Introduction to the Masters Programme

Welcome to the European Masters Programme for Steiner Waldorf Educators (EMPSWE). The purpose of this manual is to introduce you to certain essential features of the programme, which is the product of a close working partnership between 5 European institutions, in collaboration with the European Council for Steiner Waldorf Education:

The University of Plymouth (The United Kingdom)
Rudolf Steiner Hogskolan (Sweden)
Hogeschool Helicon (The Netherlands)
Witten-Annen Institut für Waldorfpädagogik (Germany)
Solymári Waldorf Pedagógiai Intézet (Hungary)

The project has developed cooperation in higher education across national boundaries (in the spirit of the Bologna Process), funded and supported by the European Commission’s Socrates Programme.

The EMPSWE operates under the auspices of the University of Plymouth’s Integrated Masters Programme (IMP). The UoP, as the awarding university, guarantees the academic quality of this state-recognised Masters level research programme. This manual is therefore both an introduction to the EMPSWE and to the IMP as a whole. In it you will find frequent references to the IMP handbook, and it is essential that all students, who enrol on the programme, acquaint themselves thoroughly with that handbook’s contents.
